The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA), in partnership with the Arab Renaissance for Democracy and Development (ARDD), recently celebrated the winners of the Ethical Excellence in Business Leadership Award for 2025. The ceremony, held under the theme “Towards the Future: Celebrating Pioneers of Sustainable Local Development,” aimed to honor distinguished companies and JBA members for their commitment to sustainable entrepreneurship and social responsibility.
Fostering Public-Private Partnership
Ayman Alawneh, President of the JBA, highlighted the significance of the partnership with ARDD in bolstering the private sector’s role in economic development. He noted that this collaboration enhances the national economy’s competitiveness and resilience against challenges, aligning with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision which emphasizes a strong partnership between the public and private sectors.
“The private sector plays a pivotal role in supporting economic growth and enhancing the efficiency of productive and service sectors,” Alawneh stated. “We are particularly focused on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are the backbone of our national economy, by enhancing their competitiveness and enabling them to innovate and expand.”
Samar Muhareb, Executive Director of ARDD, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the partnership is a primary driver for economic and social development. “The award reflects the winning institutions’ commitment to achieving balanced economic growth that is in line with the Economic Modernization Vision,” she explained.
Driving Sustainable Economic Growth
During a panel discussion on supporting entrepreneurship in Jordan, experts stressed the importance of building a robust and inclusive business environment. Economic expert Dr. Adli Qandah pointed out that fostering entrepreneurship and building alliances based on shared values are fundamental to achieving efficient economic growth and creating job opportunities.
Rami Al-Saheb, a board member of the JBA, emphasized that supporting entrepreneurship is a cornerstone of economic growth. He stressed the need for a commitment to good governance, transparency, and a culture of ethics within institutions to build a stable and sustainable business ecosystem.
The discussion also featured insights from Rabie Gamalieh, Entrepreneurship Project Manager at Orange, and Shatha Bdair, Head of the SME Sector at Bank al Etihad, who both underscored the importance of integrated roles among entities supporting the entrepreneurial landscape.
