Jordan’s national government services gateway, the Sanad app, has achieved a significant milestone in user adoption, now serving approximately half a million users on a weekly basis. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship announced the new figures, which highlight the platform’s growing role in the country’s ambitious digital transformation strategy.
Significant User Adoption and Engagement
According to the ministry, the Sanad application sees weekly usage from around 500,000 individuals, with the monthly user count reaching 1.3 million. The platform is facilitating between 3 to 5 million digital transactions each month, which include a range of inquiries and service requests. The app’s reach extends beyond the country’s borders, with many Jordanians living abroad utilizing its features to access government services remotely.
The Road to Full Digitalization
The app’s success is a cornerstone of the Jordanian government’s broader public sector digitalization plan. Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Sami Samireyat, has outlined a goal of reaching 80% digitization by the end of 2025, with a target of full digitization by the end of 2026. The number of active digital IDs on the platform currently stands at 1.8 million, with the government aiming to increase this figure to 3.5 million by the close of 2025.
Streamlining Access to Government Services
Launched in February 2020, the Sanad app provides citizens with a unified digital identity, allowing them to log in with a single username and password across multiple government platforms. This eliminates the need for various credentials and simplifies access to public services. Users can activate their digital ID at designated Sanad stations or conveniently through participating banks that support remote activation, further improving the business and civic environment.
