In a move to strengthen the link between academia and the startup ecosystem, Kafr El Sheikh University organized a field visit for its students to the local branch of Egypt’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA). The initiative aimed to introduce students to the mechanics of entrepreneurship and the support systems available for launching new ventures in the country.

Bridging the Gap Between Campus and Market
The visit, organized for students of the Faculty of Specific Education, was designed to move beyond theoretical knowledge by providing a direct look into the practical aspects of starting a business. Yahya Eid, President of Kafr El Sheikh University, stated that the university is heavily invested in preparing its students for the workforce by connecting academic learning with practical application. He noted that such field visits are crucial for building student capabilities and introducing them to opportunities for launching successful projects, which supports the state’s direction toward economically empowering its youth.
Amani Shaker, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, added that the visit is part of a broader plan to strengthen partnerships with national institutions. She emphasized the university’s push to promote an entrepreneurial culture, encouraging students to innovate and create their own opportunities rather than seeking traditional employment.
Unpacking MSMEDA’s Support Toolkit for Young Founders
During the visit, students were briefed on the key pillars of support that MSMEDA offers to emerging entrepreneurs. The session covered the legislative framework governing small and medium-sized enterprises in Egypt, mechanisms for accessing finance, and strategies for export support and integration into larger value chains.
MSMEDA officials detailed the agency’s comprehensive service package for young people. This includes providing accessible financing, specialized training programs, and technical and marketing consulting.
