In a significant move to bolster inclusive innovation, Kafrelsheikh University has organized an educational seminar aimed at building entrepreneurial capabilities among students with disabilities. The event, held at the university’s Faculty of Commerce, is a key component of a broader strategy to integrate all students into Egypt’s burgeoning startup ecosystem.

The seminar, titled “Building the Capacities of Students with Disabilities in Entrepreneurship,” was held under the patronage of Dr. Yahya Eid, President of Kafrelsheikh University. It underscores the university’s commitment to creating an equitable environment for creativity and professional development.
Dr. Eid emphasized the university’s dedication to supporting and empowering students with disabilities, recognizing their vital role in national development. “Organizing such seminars is part of the university’s strategy to enhance the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among students,” he stated. “We are working to provide a supportive and stimulating educational environment that provides all students, without discrimination, with equal opportunities for creativity and excellence.”
The initiative reflects a broader national trend in Egypt, supported by entities like the Innovators and Geniuses Support Fund, to invest in young talent and enable them to transform their ideas into successful ventures that contribute to a knowledge-based economy.
The Tamkeen Initiative
This seminar is part of the “Tamkeen for People with Disabilities (PWDS)” initiative, a collaborative effort with the Innovators and Geniuses Support Fund. The program is designed to provide comprehensive support for students interested in entrepreneurship and innovation.
The Tamkeen initiative offers a robust package of resources, including funded scholarships, specialized training programs, and innovation bootcamps. It also provides direct support for emerging startups and facilitates the transformation of research outputs into investment-ready products, further cultivating a sustainable culture of innovation.
From Idea to Execution
The seminar was led by Dr. Iman Al-Mantawi, a professor of Business Administration at the Faculty of Commerce. Her session covered the core concepts of entrepreneurship and its importance for people with disabilities, offering practical guidance on turning creative ideas into viable business projects.
Dr. Al-Mantawi also shared inspirational success stories and case studies from the world of innovation and freelance work, aiming to empower students and build their confidence in their own capabilities. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, providing attendees with guidance on how to leverage available support programs and initiatives.
