Kuwait’s KPMG Targets 10,000 Students for Its 2025 Cyber Safety Initiative

As part of its ongoing commitment to community impact and digital literacy, KPMG in Kuwait has launched the 2025 edition of its ‘Be Cyber Safe’ campaign. The initiative, which is part of the firm’s ninth annual Global Cyber Day, aims to equip 10,000 students across the country with the essential knowledge to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

A Global Initiative with Local Impact

KPMG’s Global Cyber Day is an international effort to address the complex and pervasive online risks faced by young people. Since its inception, the program has reached over 800,000 students in 66 countries. In Kuwait, the ‘Be Cyber Safe’ campaign is already making significant headway, with cybersecurity professionals from the firm conducting 10 sessions across three schools, reaching more than 1,500 students so far. The campaign is set to run through October and November 2025.

Majid Makki, Partner and Head of Management Consulting and Technology Advisory at KPMG in Kuwait, commented on the program’s mission.

“The digital world offers incredible opportunities, but it also presents real risks—especially for young users. Through this program, we aim to empower students to make informed choices online and to become responsible digital citizens.”

A Modern Curriculum for Modern Threats

Delivered by KPMG’s own cybersecurity experts, the interactive and age-appropriate sessions target students from 7 to 16 years old. The curriculum is designed to address contemporary digital challenges, covering a wide range of topics including online identity protection, cyberbullying, the safe use of devices, artificial intelligence and deepfakes, and the ethical use of technology. The program also provides guidance for parents and educators on fostering conversations about online safety.

Building on Past Success

This marks the fourth consecutive year KPMG has run the program in Kuwait, observing a growing awareness among the youth with each edition.

“Each year, we see young people becoming more aware of the dangers they face online,” added Makki. “The awareness among the younger generation is a positive sign, as modern-day hackers are well-coordinated, sophisticated, and often target younger people. We also witness active participation from schools, which are willing to contribute and ensure their students’ safety.”

In 2023 alone, the ‘Be Cyber Safe’ program successfully trained nearly 6,000 students from over ten participating schools, demonstrating a strong foundation for this year’s ambitious goal of reaching 10,000 students.
