Lebanon’s Agrytech Startups Head to The Netherlands for Global Innovation Showcase

3 Min Read

Five innovative Lebanese agrifood startups from Berytech’s Agrytech Accelerator Batch 7 are embarking on a crucial international immersion trip to the Netherlands, a global hub for agrifood technology. Hosted by the European accelerator StartLife at the Wageningen Campus, this mission is designed to connect the startups with the continent’s leading ecosystem, fostering collaboration and global expansion opportunities.

This trip highlights the commitment of the Agrytech program—co-funded by the Kingdom of The Netherlands—to empower Lebanese founders with international market exposure and the chance to engage with a deep network of investors and corporate partners.

Connecting Lebanon’s Agrifood Innovation with Europe

The event, titled “Lebanese Agrifood Innovation in Wageningen,” will provide a structured platform for the five selected startups to showcase their solutions, which range from AI-powered consultancy to sustainable biofertilizers. The intensive half-day program includes:

  • Startup Pitches: An opportunity for the founders to present their business models and technology to an audience of European investors and agrifood professionals.
  • Keynote Address: Insightful discussions relevant to the future of agrifood tech and sustainable food systems.
  • Networking: A dedicated session for “Drinks & Bites” to facilitate meaningful connections and potential partnership discussions.

This exposure is invaluable for MENA startups, as it allows them to validate their concepts against global market standards and attract the necessary international capital for scaling.

Spotlight on the Export-Ready Startups

The five Agrytech Batch 7 startups making the journey demonstrate the diversity and innovative potential within Lebanon’s agrifood sector:

  • 2XNDP: Focuses on reinventing everyday snacks into high-protein, single-ingredient powerhouses using an innovative extraction process.
  • AgriSmart: Offers an AI-powered WhatsApp chatbot that acts as a virtual agricultural consultant, providing farmers with instant advice to boost productivity and sustainability via a subscription model.
  • Elma’s: A solution that provides an eco-friendly and cost-effective protein alternative to soy for animal feed by using Black Soldier Fly Larvae, while simultaneously turning organic waste into compost.
  • Honeylicious Treats: Produces a 100% pure honey powder using freeze-drying technology, creating a natural, low-glycemic sugar alternative free from additives.
  • Peatler (Cultiva): A Lebanese company that transforms banana plant residues into organic banana peat, a sustainable alternative to coco peat, which is then enhanced with nanotechnology to create biofertilizers that increase crop yields.
