Lebanese ecosystem builder Berytech, in collaboration with AI training company Zaka, recently hosted the Clyntech Accelerator Hackathon, a one-day intensive event challenging entrepreneurs to develop smart solutions for pressing clean technology challenges. The hackathon brought together 25 innovators who formed nine multidisciplinary teams to rethink, adapt, and pitch bold new ideas in the greentech sector.
A Unique Model of Co-Creation
The event distinguished itself by intentionally bringing together two distinct groups of participants: green innovators who possessed impactful sustainable solutions, and tech innovators who had developed tools, prototypes, or other smart technologies. This unique format encouraged the fusion of sustainability-focused ideas with technical expertise, fostering the co-creation of greentech solutions designed for real-world impact. The hackathon was open to a diverse range of professionals, including engineers, coders, scientists, and entrepreneurs, who collaborated to apply their skills in new and innovative ways.
From Ideation to Pitching
Throughout the day, teams worked on developing their concepts, adapting existing prototypes to meet new needs, and building out their collaborative solutions. The innovators were supported by an extensive network of mentors, including eight external experts and ten mentors from the Berytech team. Zaka also played a key role by delivering an engaging workshop on the application of AI for entrepreneurs. The event culminated in a pitching competition where teams presented their solutions to a jury of three experts specializing in AI, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
Recognizing Top Innovators
Three winning teams were selected at the conclusion of the pitching competition, receiving awards to help them advance their projects. The prizes included:
- 1st Place: $750 and a fast-track to the Clyntech accelerator’s first-phase interviews.
- 2nd Place: $500 and a fast-track to the Clyntech accelerator’s first-phase interviews.
- 3rd Place: $250 and a fast-track to the Clyntech accelerator’s first-phase interviews.
The inclusion of a direct pathway to the accelerator program provides a clear opportunity for the most promising teams to receive further structured support and development.
