Mansoura University has solidified its position as a national leader in innovation and entrepreneurship, securing the highest number of winning projects at the Egypt Entrepreneurship Rally, a prestigious competition organized by the Entrepreneurship Center at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport.

The university’s teams won several financial awards, with prizes of EGP 50,000, EGP 75,000, and EGP 125,000, underscoring the quality and commercial viability of the ideas nurtured within its ecosystem. The success highlights the university’s effective support system for turning student innovations into market-ready ventures.

A Strategic Focus on Innovation

Dr. Sherif Khater, President of Mansoura University, stated that this achievement reflects the university’s strategic vision to bolster innovation and connect higher education with the needs of the community and the job market.

“The university pays great attention to building the entrepreneurial capacities of its students, motivating them to transform their innovative ideas into viable economic projects that contribute to sustainable development,” said Dr. Khater. He emphasized that the university will continue to provide full support for its students’ entrepreneurial projects until they become successful models.

From Bootcamp to Competition

The university’s success is the result of a comprehensive methodology designed to support its entrepreneurial ecosystem. Dr. Tarek Mostafa Ghalwash, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, explained that this approach begins with identifying promising ideas and progresses through training, qualification, incubation, and participation in national competitions.

A key element of this strategy was an intensive bootcamp held at the university in collaboration with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, which saw the participation of over 90 entrepreneurial projects from Mansoura University. The program covered practical topics including ideation, business model development, market research, customer analysis, and pitching skills.

Winning Startups Showcase Diverse Solutions

The winning projects from Mansoura University demonstrated a remarkable diversity of ideas, offering innovative solutions to pressing national challenges in the environmental, health, and technology sectors.

ReVolvix, a green-tech venture, was awarded EGP 125,000. The project focuses on recycling electronic waste into low-cost engineering educational components and eco-friendly consumer products with sustainable designs. This initiative aims to support the localization of hardware manufacturing, reduce the import gap, and protect the environment.

NeuroVive, an innovative health-tech project, secured a prize of EGP 75,000. The startup utilizes artificial intelligence to enable the early detection of Parkinson’s disease by analyzing vocal biomarkers and using a smart pen for writing and drawing tests. This provides an accurate assessment tool for use in homes and clinics, facilitating early intervention and improving patient quality of life.

HyaTurn received a prize of EGP 50,000 for its environmental innovation. The project tackles two of Egypt’s most significant environmental challenges: plastic pollution and the proliferation of the water hyacinth. The team developed a process to manufacture biodegradable plates from treated water hyacinths, supporting the circular economy, preserving water resources, and turning an environmental problem into a sustainable economic resource.
