In a landmark move for the region’s educational ecosystem, the training center at the main branch of the Misr Public Library has become the first library in Egypt and the Arab world to be accredited to issue the International Business Driving License (IBDL) certifications. The accreditation was granted by Missouri State University, USA, positioning the library as a key center for executive and professional education in entrepreneurship.
This development follows the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Misr Public Library, IBDL, and Missouri State University, aimed at bolstering the executive education framework and fostering a culture of professional entrepreneurship and freelance work.
A Strategic Partnership for Entrepreneurship
The partnership underscores the library’s commitment to building impactful collaborations with international institutions to empower the youth and align their skills with both local and global market demands.
Dr. Rania Sharaan, Director of the Misr Public Library, stated that the partnership is part of the library’s keenness to “support young people, encourage them to innovate, and turn their ideas into real, viable projects.”
Echoing this sentiment, Tamer Ali, Director of the Training Center, explained that the protocol “establishes the concept and culture of entrepreneurship and motivates young people towards professional freelance work, developing their leadership and management capabilities to enrich their economic experiences and integrate them into the national economy.”
Internationally Recognized Certifications
Under the new agreement, the library’s training center is now an official partner for providing IBDL services, examinations, and certifications within Egypt. This allows the library to offer internationally accredited programs that are crucial for aspiring entrepreneurs and business professionals.
The available certifications include three core international exams for Business Fundamentals, Business Professionalism, and Business Leadership. Additionally, the center will offer specialized credentials such as the Certified Industrial Engineer, Certified Teacher, and the Certified Train the Trainer in Entrepreneurship program.
Elevating Professional Standards
The collaboration is seen as a significant boost to community-led efforts in the entrepreneurship space. The IBDL certifications are recognized as a professional model for training and assessment based on international standards and specifications.
Dr. Adel Sadek, Executive Director of IBDL, emphasized that the cooperation is a “qualitative addition to community efforts in the field of entrepreneurship.” He noted that the IBDL certifications are one of the latest tools for “assessing the capabilities and measuring the skills and knowledge of entrepreneurs, effectively guiding youth towards freelance work and self-employment.”
