Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises, Monsha’at, has launched the “University Startup Growth Accelerators” program, a new initiative aimed at transforming innovative student projects into competitive companies. The program is a collaboration with three leading universities: King Khalid University in Abha, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh, and the University of Business and Technology in Jeddah.
Bridging Academia and Entrepreneurship
The core objective of the accelerator is to create a structured pathway for university students and graduates to turn their tech and innovation-focused ideas into sustainable startups. Participants will receive access to an integrated support system that includes expert mentorship, specialized training programs, financing services, and crucial networking opportunities with potential investors. The program is designed to enhance the investment readiness of these early-stage ventures and boost their competitiveness in the market. 🎓
A Six-Month Journey to Investment
The program spans six months, beginning with a qualification phase to select the most promising projects. This is followed by an intensive acceleration period, culminating in a Demo Day where the startups will present their achievements to a network of investors. The current edition of the program aims to incubate 60 university-born startups and secure investment opportunities for the most promising ventures. 🚀
A Strategic Pillar of Vision 2030
Funded by the Human Capability Development Program, a key component of Saudi Vision 2030, this initiative reflects the growing integration between the government and academic sectors. By fostering a vibrant university entrepreneurship ecosystem, the program directly supports the Kingdom’s goals of increasing entrepreneurship’s contribution to the national economy and creating a stimulating investment environment for its youth.
