Morocco Boosts National AI Ambitions With New Institutes and Global Ranking Jump

Morocco is accelerating its national artificial intelligence agenda, marking its progress with a significant 14-place climb in the 2025 Government AI Readiness Index. The leap reflects the country’s rapid advancements in digital transformation and the modernization of its public services.

Speaking at the national AI Made in Morocco event, Mrs. Amal Al-Falah Al-Sagroshny, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administration Reform, underscored AI as a strategic pillar for the nation’s technological sovereignty, territorial equity, and inclusive development.

A Strategic Pillar for Sovereignty

Minister Al-Falah Al-Sagroshny emphasized that mastering AI technologies is critical for reducing technological dependency and ensuring Morocco’s long-term competitiveness on the global stage.

She noted that while the rise in global rankings validates the effectiveness of recent reforms, maintaining this momentum will require accelerated implementation and robust governance frameworks.

Launching the Jazari Institutes

In a move to operationalize this vision, the Minister announced the launch of the Jazari Institutes and Jazari Root. These initiatives are designed to establish a structured national network of AI centers of excellence.
The network will focus on fostering skills development, advancing cutting-edge research, and promoting applied innovation across various sectors of the Moroccan economy.

A Catalyst for Regional Collaboration

The establishment of these new institutions aligns with the Royal Vision to position artificial intelligence as a strategic lever for South-South cooperation.

This strategy aims to strengthen Morocco’s role as a technological leader and collaborator across Africa and the Global South, reinforcing the country’s ambition to lead in AI adoption and governance among emerging markets.

About Jazari Institutes and Jazari Root

The Jazari Institutes and Jazari Root are new national initiatives in Morocco aimed at creating a nationwide network of AI centers of excellence. Their primary mission is to support skills development, facilitate research, and drive applied innovation in artificial intelligence to bolster the country’s digital strategy and inclusive growth objectives.
