In a strategic move to harness the power of gaming for social good, Enactus Morocco has partnered with global technology leader Lenovo to launch the “Hackathon Gaming for Impact & Education.” The national initiative, scheduled for December 26 and 27 in Casablanca, aims to reposition video games as powerful tools for learning and societal change, bringing together students, developers, and entrepreneurs from across the country.
Beyond Entertainment a New Vision for Gaming
The two-day hackathon is designed to challenge participants to think beyond entertainment and develop interactive gaming solutions that tackle pressing educational and social issues. Over 48 hours, teams will collaborate to build game-based concepts or prototypes.
The event will focus on key themes such as inclusion, environmental awareness, and responsible innovation. To support their efforts, participants will receive guidance through workshops and mentorship from seasoned professionals in Morocco’s technology and entrepreneurship ecosystems.
Tapping Into a Growing Market
This initiative comes at a time when Morocco’s gaming industry is experiencing significant growth. The sector is currently valued at nearly MAD 2 billion and is expanding at an annual rate of approximately 9 percent.
With nearly one in four Moroccans playing video games regularly, the platform holds immense potential for engagement. Notably, almost half of these gamers are between the ages of 15 and 24, making it a critical medium for fostering skills development, creativity, and civic responsibility among the nation’s youth.
