Morocco recently showcased its national ambitions in green energy and industrial modernization by hosting the first Schneider Electric Innovation Day in Casablanca. The event convened key government officials, industry leaders, and technology innovators, positioning the Kingdom as a pivotal player in accelerating Africa’s energy, digital, and industrial transition.

Morocco’s National Vision for 2030

Government officials at the event detailed Morocco’s long-standing commitment to a sustainable future, guided by the vision of King Mohammed VI. Fadil Youcef, Director General of Industry at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, noted that renewables already constitute 40% of the country’s energy mix, with a firm target of reaching 52% by 2030. Further outlining the strategy, Brahim Benmoussa, Secretary General of the Ministry of Investment, presented a three-pillar action plan that includes expanding renewable energy, digitalizing strategic infrastructure for enhanced resilience, and deepening Morocco’s integration into global value chains to foster innovation and technology transfer.

A Strategic Partnership to Boost Local Industry

A key outcome of the Innovation Day was the signing of a strategic partnership between Schneider Electric, the Ministry of Industry, and the National Federation of Electricity, Electronics and Renewable Energies (FENELEC). This collaboration is designed to boost local industrial integration, stimulate job creation within the tech and energy sectors, and drive innovation across the ecosystem, further solidifying Morocco’s industrial capabilities.

Showcasing The Future of Tech and Energy

The event featured an “Innovation Hub Reveal” that provided a tangible look into the future of technology and infrastructure. Pavilions dedicated to topics such as “Infrastructure of the Future,” “AI-Ready Data Center,” “Buildings of the Future,” “Industries of the Future,” and “Grid of the Future” demonstrated how AI, digitalization, and electrification can be leveraged to enhance efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainability. By hosting the event, Morocco not only highlighted its progress but also reinforced its commitment to combining economic growth with environmental stewardship.
