Morocco is set to inject 1.3 billion dirhams (approximately $130 million) into its startup ecosystem as a cornerstone of its ambitious “Morocco Digital 2030” strategy. The announcement was made by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, during the closing session of the Digital Now 2025 Forum in Casablanca.

This significant government-led investment aims to accelerate entrepreneurial momentum and position the Kingdom as a leading digital hub in the region.

A Strategic Allocation of Funds

The funding is strategically divided to address key areas of the startup lifecycle. A total of 750 million dirhams will be allocated to venture building programs designed to foster early-stage company creation.

Another 450 million dirhams are earmarked for venture capital financing to help startups scale, while 70 million dirhams will be dedicated to strengthening the national Technopark network, which provides crucial infrastructure and support for tech companies.

Ambitious Goals for Startup Growth

The combined force of the venture building and Technopark programs sets clear and ambitious targets for the ecosystem. The Kingdom aims to support the creation of 1,000 new startups by 2026, with a long-term goal of reaching 3,000 innovative ventures by 2030.

Minister Seghrouchni also noted that new financing mechanisms are being developed to attract private investment, complementing the public funds and further strengthening the entrepreneurial landscape.

Building a Regional Innovation Hub

Beyond direct startup funding, the Morocco Digital 2030 strategy includes initiatives to promote digital inclusion in rural areas and develop regional innovation hubs across the country.

This holistic approach underscores Morocco’s ambition to become a prominent regional player in digital innovation, responsible artificial intelligence, and other future-focused industries, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for growth and technological advancement.
