Morocco’s top business confederation has partnered with the national data protection authority in a strategic move to guide companies through the country’s privacy laws and enhance their digital security frameworks.
The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the President of the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP) have signed a partnership agreement designed to increase data protection awareness and support Moroccan businesses in complying with Law 09-08, the nation’s key data protection legislation.
A Strategic Alliance for Digital Trust
Signed by the presidents of both organizations, the agreement aims to “make data protection a pillar of competitiveness and digital trust for Moroccan companies,” according to a statement released by CGEM.
The collaboration addresses the growing pressure on businesses across Morocco to safeguard customer and employee data within an increasingly digital economy. By providing direct access to regulatory expertise, the initiative aims to lower the barriers to compliance, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Introducing the DATA-TIKA Program
Under the new agreement, CGEM will officially join the CNDP’s “DATA-TIKA” program, an initiative focused on strengthening corporate capabilities in data governance and security.
A key feature of this partnership is the creation of a dedicated CGEM-CNDP corridor. This regional support system will offer a simplified and direct path for CGEM member companies to achieve regulatory compliance. The partnership also includes a series of awareness workshops to educate businesses on responsible personal data handling, their legal obligations, and the implementation of appropriate security safeguards.
Aligning with National and Global Standards
CGEM officials emphasized that this initiative is a continuation of the confederation’s commitment to fostering a digital transformation that is “responsible, ethical, and secure.”
The partnership is strategically aligned with international best practices in data protection and supports Morocco’s national priorities centered on achieving digital sovereignty and building a trusted digital ecosystem for businesses and consumers alike.
