Moroccan regtech startup Charikaty has successfully raised $150,000 (MAD 1.5 million) during Season 3 of the popular national investment show, “Qui Veut Investir Dans Mon Projet?”. The funding was secured from prominent investors Ilan Benhaim, co-founder of Veepee, and Karim Amor, founder of Epineon.ai.
Simplifying a Complex Process
Founded by Amr Mouaqit (CEO) and Driss Sijelmassi (COO), Charikaty is tackling a major bottleneck for entrepreneurs in Morocco: the complex and paper-intensive process of starting a business. The platform offers a fully digital solution for company formation, managing everything from legal structuring and documentation to government registration and ongoing compliance.
By moving these traditionally lengthy procedures online, Charikaty aims to reduce a process that can take weeks into a transparent and streamlined digital experience.
Securing High-Profile Backing
The investment was secured following a compelling pitch on the television show, which is broadcast on the national channel 2M. The startup attracted the attention of two notable figures in the Moroccan business ecosystem: Ilan Benhaim, who is also the Chairman of Endeavor Morocco, and Karim Amor, President of MeM by CGEM. Their backing highlights the significant market opportunity and growth potential recognized in Charikaty’s model.
Aligning with National Digital Strategy
Charikaty’s mission is well-aligned with the Moroccan government’s “Maroc Digital 2030” strategy, which aims to accelerate the country’s digital transformation. With over 90,000 new companies registered annually in Morocco, the startup is positioning itself as a critical piece of digital infrastructure for entrepreneurs, SMEs, and even the Moroccan diaspora looking to establish businesses back home.
“Every year, tens of thousands of Moroccans take the leap to start a business,” said CEO Amr Mouaqit. “Our job at Charikaty is to make sure the legal process never stands in the way of that ambition.”
Fueling Nationwide Expansion
The newly acquired capital will be deployed to enhance Charikaty’s technology platform, expand its operational reach across Morocco, and scale its service offerings. The company aims to broaden its support for entrepreneurs, SMEs, and Moroccans living abroad, further solidifying its role in the nation’s burgeoning startup ecosystem.
