Morocco’s iAvicenne Wins Top Prize at Qatar-Africa Business Forum Startup Competition

Moroccan HealthTech startup iAvicenne has secured the first-place prize of $40,000 at the Startup Competition held during the fourth edition of the Qatar-Africa Business Forum (QABF). The event, which took place in Johannesburg from November 18-19, 2025, saw the Moroccan innovator triumph over a competitive field of more than 200 startups from across the African continent.

MENA Startups Dominate the Podium

The final stage of the competition featured 10 high-potential startups, with MENA-based companies showcasing remarkable strength and innovation. Following iAvicenne’s win, the second-place prize was awarded to Egyptian startup Wafeeq.
In a further testament to Morocco’s burgeoning tech ecosystem, Nexa IA claimed third place. Both iAvicenne and Nexa IA are part of programs fostered by Morocco’s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), with iAvicenne belonging to the NextAfrica program and Nexa IA emerging from The Forge accelerator.

AI-Powered Medical Superintelligence

iAvicenne specializes in what it terms “Medical Superintelligence,” developing an advanced AI-powered platform designed to enhance clinical decision-making. The technology aims to accelerate medical analysis, reduce the margin of error, and provide physicians with access to sophisticated medical expertise.

By streamlining complex diagnostic processes, the platform contributes directly to improving the overall quality and accessibility of healthcare services. The competition’s focus this year highlighted the growing vitality of African innovation in strategic sectors, including HealthTech, AgriTech, and WaterTech.

The victory serves as a significant validation of AI’s transformative potential within the healthcare sector. Dr. Othman Harit, founder of iAvicenne, emphasized the importance of the achievement for the region’s tech landscape.
