Muscat AI Solutions, an Omani technology firm, has launched EV Group, a comprehensive digital platform designed to integrate and streamline the Sultanate’s growing electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure. The new application, available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play, aims to serve as a central hub for EV owners, dealerships, and service providers across the country.
Addressing a Fragmented Market
The launch of EV Group addresses several critical pain points for the estimated 3,000 to 4,000 EV drivers currently on Oman’s roads. According to Hussain al Lawati, CEO of Muscat AI Solutions, the primary challenges include finding functional and available charging stations, the absence of a dedicated marketplace for EV-related products and services, and provider fragmentation that forces users to juggle multiple applications.
The app is designed to be a one-stop solution, helping EV owners locate charging stations, check their real-time status, and view connector types and pricing. It also facilitates long-distance travel by suggesting optimal charging stops to ensure a seamless journey.
A Founder’s Firsthand Experience
The inspiration for the platform stemmed directly from the founder’s personal journey. Al Lawati, one of the first Tesla Model Y owners in Oman back in 2022, faced the sector’s teething problems firsthand.
“Driving one, I came across many pain points firsthand,” al Lawati explained. “Last year I met my partner, a master app developer Ali Chenani, and we decided to tackle these points together to create a solution that addresses the real needs of EV drivers here.” This experience drove the development of a user-centric platform aimed at solving practical, everyday issues for the EV community.
Comprehensive Features for the EV Community
EV Group integrates a suite of features beyond charging solutions. The platform includes an e-marketplace where users, dealerships, and local vendors can list new and used EVs, accessories, and parts. This feature supports the local business community by offering free listings to connect sellers with a targeted audience of EV owners.
For businesses, the platform offers charging-as-a-service (CaaS) solutions, enabling commercial entities to participate in and monetize the growing charging network. Future premium features are planned to include vehicle telemetry, remote car access, and AI-driven assistance.
Complementing National Infrastructure
The platform is positioned to work in tandem with national initiatives. While the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is developing its own app, ‘Shahin,’ al Lawati clarified that the two are complementary.
He stated, “Shahin focuses on the hardware network, HSE framework and device compatibility, while EV Group focuses on the software side and user experience, including multiple provider integration, multiple country integration (like UAE and KSA), buying cars, finding parts, community support and private business integration.”
