The National Experts Program has announced a new specialized track focused on Artificial Intelligence, calling on Emirati professionals in the field to join its upcoming cohort. The initiative, known as NEP-AI, will begin accepting applications on January 29, 2026, with the first program scheduled to commence in May 2026.
NEP-AI builds on the success of the broader program since its inception in 2019 and aims to develop a national cadre of AI leaders to spearhead the country’s strategic priorities.
Aligning With The UAE’s National AI Strategy
Launched under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, NEP-AI is a direct contribution to the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031. The program is designed to transform this national strategy into tangible execution, positioning the UAE among the world’s leading nations in the AI sector.
Participants will be selected based on their strong academic backgrounds, professional achievements, and leadership potential, with a key focus on their ability to create practical impact across vital national sectors.
A Practical Framework For AI Mastery
The program curriculum spans 25 priority sectors across the national economy, structured into six core tracks: AI Infrastructure and Hardware, AI Models and Application, AI Productization and Entrepreneurship, Sovereign AI and National Capability, Human–AI Leadership and Foresight, and Applied AI Domains.
NEP-AI places a strong emphasis on moving beyond theory to delivery. It integrates critical modules on human capital, governance, ethics, data readiness, and the principles of responsible AI deployment. Each participant will develop a capstone project tied to their organization or sector, aimed at delivering scientific solutions with measurable and sustainable impact.
Fostering Expertise Through Mentorship And Global Collaboration
Participants in the NEP-AI track will receive support from a dedicated network of mentors. The program further enhances local capabilities by leveraging global expertise, combining insights from UAE-based centres of excellence with knowledge from leading international institutions.
This collaborative approach is supplemented by international study visits that are aligned with the participants’ specialized AI tracks, ensuring a comprehensive and world-class learning experience.
