The UAE Media Council has officially launched Amen, a new digital platform designed to enable the public to actively monitor and provide feedback on media content produced and distributed within the country. This initiative marks a significant step towards fostering a more transparent and collaborative media landscape, placing community participation at its core.
A New Era of Public Participation in Media
The Amen platform underscores the Council’s belief that society plays a vital role in upholding the integrity of media and safeguarding national values. By encouraging citizens and residents to provide direct feedback, the UAE aims to cultivate a responsible media environment that aligns with the nation’s development goals. Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Office and the UAE Media Council, stated that the platform reflects the leadership’s commitment to placing individuals at the heart of national progress.
“Content is a responsibility. It shapes society’s thinking, awareness, and attitudes, and reflects the nation’s image and standing,” said Al Hamed. “What we publish must elevate and benefit society, build positive awareness, and express our values, humanity, and national identity – which we proudly uphold.”
Fostering a Responsible Digital Ecosystem
The primary objective of Amen is to improve the quality of media content and ensure that it remains ethical, balanced, and accountable. Public participation is seen as an essential component in building a credible national media system that sustains trust between media outlets and the community. The platform provides a structured channel for users to help ensure that media practices adhere to high professional standards and cultural values.
Aligning with National Vision
The launch of Amen aligns strategically with the goals of the ‘Year of Community,’ as announced by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, described the platform as an interactive tool for reinforcing social values and enhancing media awareness, particularly among younger generations. Al Shehhi emphasized that Amen is part of the Council’s broader regulatory framework aimed at promoting responsible creativity and ensuring media content meets community expectations.
