New Program Aims To Turn Military Veterans Into Entrepreneurs in Jordan

3 Min Read

A new initiative has been launched in Jordan to empower military veterans and their families by providing them with the tools and skills needed to launch their own business ventures. The Veterans Entrepreneurship Program is a collaborative effort by Amideast Jordan and Boeing, in partnership with the Hashemite Commission for Disabled Soldiers (HCDS) and other key players in the local startup ecosystem.

This program builds upon the success of a previous initiative by the same partners, which focused on preparing veterans for careers in the tourism and aviation sectors.

Fostering Veteran-Led Ventures

The program is designed to leverage the unique skills that veterans bring from their military service, such as discipline, resilience, and leadership, and channel them into entrepreneurship. By creating new pathways to economic security, the initiative aims to generate a lasting positive impact on both the individuals and their communities.

Fahad Al Mheiri, Boeing president for the Middle East Gulf and North Africa, commented on the partnership, “We deeply value the discipline, resilience, leadership and experience that veterans bring to the workplace. We are proud to support this program, opening new pathways to economic security for veterans in Jordan.”

A Comprehensive Seven-Month Program

In its 2026 cohort, the seven-month program will support 16 Jordanian veterans from Amman and the central and northern governorates. Participants will undergo 76 hours of structured, in-person training in Amman, supplemented by workshops, networking events, and coaching sessions.

The curriculum is designed to provide practical entrepreneurship skills aligned with local market needs, covering core business concepts such as developing a business plan, financial management, market readiness, and building personal resilience.

“The Veterans Entrepreneurship Program reflects our continued commitment to creating meaningful economic opportunities for veterans and their families,” said Nour Alrasheed, country director of Amideast Jordan. “By combining digital literacy, entrepreneurship training, and psychosocial support, we are helping participants transform their skills into sustainable livelihoods and long-term independence.”

Public-Private Partnership for Impact

Amideast will utilize its extensive network to connect participants with mentors, trainers, and business support services to help them refine their ideas and increase their ventures’ chances of success.

The program is also supported by Joramco, a key player that will enhance its impact through capacity-building, providing digital resource packages, and offering ongoing support. This public-private partnership serves as a replicable model for inclusive economic empowerment, designed to help veterans thrive in their transition from military to civilian life.
