Nile University, through its NilePreneurs initiative and in partnership with Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), has announced the launch of the ClimaTech Accelerator 2025. This six-month program is designed to scale promising climate technology startups in Egypt that are actively addressing the challenges of plastic pollution and advancing the circular economy.
The accelerator will support a cohort of 10 high-potential startups leading innovation in areas such as single-use plastics (SUPs) and the use of plastics in the construction industry.
Fostering Commercial and Technical Growth
The ClimaTech Accelerator aims to empower founders by providing them with the necessary tools to transform their climate-focused ideas into scalable, market-ready ventures. Participating startups will receive tailored commercial guidance, dedicated technical support, and crucial access to funding networks.
The program’s ultimate goal is to help these ventures achieve measurable environmental and economic impact, positioning them for long-term success in the growing climate tech sector.
A Multi-Track Approach
The accelerator is structured around three distinct tracks to address different facets of the plastic waste problem:
Material Innovation: This track is for startups developing recyclable, biodegradable, or bio-based materials. Examples include recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), agro-waste blends, composite panels, and bioplastics for packaging or construction.
Product Innovation: This stream focuses on ventures redesigning packaging or construction components to minimize plastic inputs, extend product lifecycles, and promote reusability.
Business Model Innovation: This track supports startups that are enabling the collection, reuse, and recycling of waste through digital platforms, deposit-return systems, tracking solutions, or plastic waste management-as-a-service models.
