In a significant move to bolster Egypt’s innovation landscape, the NilePreneurs initiative has announced its participation in implementing a new EU-funded project. The core of this project is the launch of “Ecosys+,” a comprehensive digital platform designed to function as a business accelerator and a central hub for the nation’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Ecosys+ Platform
Dr. Heba Labib, Executive Director of NilePreneurs, stated that the Ecosys+ platform will serve as a one-stop-shop for startups and SMEs. It aims to aggregate all available growth opportunities, connecting incubators, accelerators, and industry experts through a single electronic portal. This streamlined access is designed to simplify the search for crucial support, whether financial or advisory.
The project specifically targets entrepreneurs with innovative ideas who are seeking funding, collaborative expertise, or market access for their products. By providing a stage to showcase innovative concepts to the market, the platform will facilitate connections to required support systems and foster a culture of collaborative innovation.
A Collaborative Ecosystem Initiative
The EU-funded project is set for a duration of 30 months and involves a consortium of key Egyptian entities. NilePreneurs will execute the project in coordination with the Academy of Scientific Research and the Industrial Council for Technology and Innovation, which operates under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The initiative also includes collaboration with private sector firms Yomken, EIS, and SITES.
As a national initiative, NilePreneurs will play a pivotal role in the project’s execution, leading the construction of the platform and ensuring its reach to all relevant stakeholders for maximum impact. In partnership with the other participating entities, the initiative will leverage Ecosys+ to provide comprehensive resources that encourage and promote entrepreneurship, including curated educational content to nurture a well-informed community of innovators.
A Strategic Push for Innovation
Dr. Labib emphasized the project’s strategic importance in strengthening the country’s innovation framework. She highlighted that the initiative will build effective partnerships and create a network that connects potential innovations and available expertise with the sectors that need them most.
“The project represents a vital solution to support the innovation structure through building effective partnerships,” Dr. Labib explained. “[It works] to connect potential innovations and available expertise with the areas that are in dire need of them, to create a fruitful social and economic impact and to stimulate inclusive growth in entrepreneurship and build the necessary technical capabilities and skills for the rapid, effective growth of emerging companies and entities.”
