Oman Launches Five-Year Plan to Propel SME Sector Forward

4 Min Read

Oman has launched its SME Sector Executive Plan for 2026-2030, a strategic initiative designed to strengthen the role of small and medium-sized enterprises as a primary driver of economic growth and diversification. The plan aligns directly with the ambitious goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the nation’s Eleventh Five-Year Development Plan.

The core objective is to cultivate a stimulating and sustainable business environment that elevates the competitiveness of SMEs, increases their contribution to the national GDP, and creates pathways for them to access local, regional, and global markets. This initiative also places a strong emphasis on fostering innovation and accelerating the Sultanate’s transition towards a knowledge-based economy.

A Founder’s Journey in Logistics

Embodying the spirit of this new plan is entrepreneur Mansour bin Abdullah al Rawahi, founder of Al Raad Logistics. Established in 2013, the company provides integrated services including transport, warehousing, and local and international shipping, with a specialized focus on the military sector.

Al Rawahi leveraged extensive experience gained in the logistics sector since 1999, which gave him a deep understanding of market dynamics and operational efficiency. This prior expertise was instrumental in navigating the initial challenges of launching his venture, particularly in understanding client needs and managing complex daily operations with professionalism.

Leveraging Support and Building Trust

The success of Al Raad Logistics was built on a foundation of strong support. Al Rawahi credits his family for providing the encouragement and assistance needed to overcome early financial and administrative hurdles, giving him the confidence to expand his services.

Furthermore, securing the trust of early clients and business partners who believed in his vision was a critical factor. This trust helped build the company’s strong reputation from its inception and remains a cornerstone of its continued success.

Global Engagement and Peer Advice

Al Rawahi actively participates in local and international events across the military, oil and gas, and logistics sectors to stay ahead of market trends. By attending exhibitions in the GCC, Europe, and Asia, he strengthens his global network and gains insights into international best practices.

He advises fellow Omani entrepreneurs to consistently engage in events and training programs to remain informed about market needs and future changes. This commitment to continuous learning has paid off, with Al Raad Logistics winning first place for Best Logistics Practices in the Omani Services and Products category for 2025 and receiving a Certificate of Excellence in the Logistics Excellence category at the Oman Vision 2024 Economic Award.
