Oman’s Financial Services Authority (FSA) has completed the final phase of its Jisr initiative, successfully training and securing employment for 20 Omani nationals within the country’s insurance firms. The program aims to strengthen the local talent pipeline and support the long-term growth of the financial services sector.
Quick Facts
- 20 Omani nationals trained and employed.
- Partnership with Estidamah and the Ministry of Labour.
- Focus on enhancing In-Country Value (ICV).
A Collaborative Push for National Talent
The Jisr initiative was implemented through a strategic partnership between the FSA, the National Programme for Fiscal Sustainability and Financial Sector Development (Estidamah), the Ministry of Labour, and the College of Banking and Financial Studies. This collaboration provides young Omanis with specialized training directly linked to employment opportunities.
The milestone follows the candidates’ successful completion of both written and technical assessments designed to prepare them for the demands of the insurance industry.
Bridging the Skills Gap
The program covers a range of specializations critical to the financial sector, including business administration, accounting, finance, marketing, statistics, logistics, and mechanical engineering.
During the interview phase, the initiative used a comprehensive evaluation approach that went beyond technical knowledge. Candidates were also assessed on key behavioural skills such as communication, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving, ensuring they are prepared to make an immediate impact in their new roles.
Bolstering In-Country Value
The FSA’s efforts with Jisr are part of a broader strategy to enhance In-Country Value (ICV) by integrating more Omani talent into regulated sectors. This aligns with other national programs like Tamkeen, which focuses on training Omanis for administrative and technical roles across operational, middle, and senior management levels within the non-banking financial sector.

The Jisr initiative, led by Oman’s Financial Services Authority, is a national talent development program designed to empower Omani youth. It provides valuable training and direct employment pathways into the country’s insurance sector, supporting the industry’s growth and sustainability with qualified local professionals.
