Oman’s Mustaqel Program Launched to Empower 330 Student Entrepreneurs

The Youth Center in Oman has launched Mustaqel (Independent), the first national program of its kind aimed at empowering school students by helping them discover their individual skills and transform them into sources of income. The initiative is a collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority.

Program Overview and Mission

The Mustaqel program is a strategic initiative designed to spread the culture of freelance work and entrepreneurship among the nation’s youth. The program’s core mission is to bridge the gap between academic education and practical, real-world work by providing students with an enriching, hands-on experience that helps them turn their passions and skills into real income sources.

What Participants Will Receive

The three-month program offers a comprehensive professional and cultural training curriculum. Participants will gain:

  • An understanding of the freelance and independent work landscape.
  • Skills in providing digital services and dealing with clients.
  • Guidance on creating professional profiles on freelance platforms.
  • An early introduction to entrepreneurial thinking to establish viable small projects.

Who Should Apply?

This opportunity is designed for:

  • Students in grades 10, 11, and 12.
  • 30 participants will be selected from each governorate in the Sultanate of Oman.

How to Get Involved

The program is currently running across 11 locations, including Sohar University, Sur Incubation Center, and the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex in Salalah.
