Thawani Technologies LLC, Oman’s first payment service provider licensed by the Central Bank of Oman, has entered into a strategic partnership with the digital platform Monak. The two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a collaborative framework for integrated digital and financial technology solutions aimed at supporting both public and private sector initiatives across the Sultanate.
This collaboration will leverage Thawani’s licensed payments infrastructure alongside Monak’s digital platform, which focuses on financial and lifestyle services.
A Strategic Alliance for Digital Transformation
Under the new agreement, Thawani and Monak will explore opportunities to embed secure and locally compliant payment capabilities directly within digital platforms. The primary objective is to empower organizations to streamline their service delivery, enhance reconciliation and reporting processes, and significantly reduce their time-to-market by using scalable integration models.
The partnership combines Thawani’s developer enablement capabilities with Monak’s expertise in simplifying onboarding and service delivery for employers and users, particularly targeting working expatriates, travelers, and local residents.
Embedding Payments to Enhance User Experience
Eng. Majid Al Amri, Founder and CEO of Thawani, emphasized that the collaboration is designed to convert digital interactions into fully executable services.
“This partnership is about turning digital journeys into fully executable services—securely, transparently, and at scale,” Al Amri stated. “When payments are embedded directly into the platforms people and institutions already use, outcomes improve: processes move faster, user experiences become simpler, and governance becomes stronger. We see this collaboration as a practical step toward strengthening Oman’s digital infrastructure with solutions built for long-term relevance and regulatory alignment.”
Said Salim Al Shanfari, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Monak, highlighted the importance of trusted partnerships in driving digital progress.
“Meaningful digital transformation is built on partnerships grounded in trust, execution, and long-term value,” said Al Shanfari. “Our collaboration with Thawani reflects a shared belief that technology should remove friction from essential services. Together, we look forward to supporting Oman’s digital ambitions through solutions that are resilient, scalable, and aligned to local market needs.”
Strengthening Oman’s National Digital Agenda
The MoU signals the continuing momentum of Oman’s national digital agenda. Institutions across the country are increasingly looking for cohesive frameworks that connect seamless digital service delivery with trusted and regulated financial infrastructure. This trend positions partnerships between licensed fintech providers and platform innovators as a critical component in shaping how services are designed, integrated, and delivered throughout the national ecosystem.
