In a push to decentralize entrepreneurial support outside of Amman, Orange Jordan has partnered with iCON Training to conclude its latest startup growth accelerator. The initiative recently celebrated the graduation of 88 startups hailing from the southern governorates of Karak and Aqaba, equipping local founders with the resources needed to refine their business models and scale operations.

Quick Facts

  • 88 local startups graduated from the acceleration program.
  • Focus areas included advanced training, mentorship, and networking.
  • Backed by GIZ, the EU, and Jordanian government.

Driving Decentralized Tech Growth in Southern Jordan

The accelerator program delivered a comprehensive suite of resources designed to move early-stage companies from concept to execution. Founders received advanced business training, dedicated mentorship, networking opportunities, and logistical backing.

These services were facilitated directly through the business accelerators of the Orange Digital Center, providing structural support to a diverse range of sectors outside the capital’s traditional tech hubs.

Orange Jordan noted that the graduation of this cohort highlights its ongoing strategy to boost startup competitiveness across all governorates. By providing structured acceleration outside of major urban centers, the telecommunications provider is actively attempting to mature the broader Jordanian entrepreneurial ecosystem.

European And Government Backing For Local Innovation

The Karak and Aqaba accelerator was executed under the broader umbrella of the “Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment” project, a major multi-stakeholder initiative in the region.

This project was implemented through a strategic partnership between the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and Jordan’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, the program received direct support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) alongside the European Union, highlighting strong international interest in building sustainable economic frameworks and youth employment pipelines within Jordan’s startup sector.
