Doha has cemented its position as a significant force in the global technology landscape, with Qatar ranking 10th worldwide in artificial intelligence diffusion, according to the newly released Microsoft’s Global AI Adoption 2025 report. The achievement underscores the success of Qatar’s strategic investments in digital transformation and human capital development, placing it ahead of established economies like Australia, Canada, and the United States in population-normalised AI adoption.
A Data-Driven Look at Qatar’s AI Ascent
The report, which analyzes anonymised global telemetry data, reveals that 38.3% of Qatar’s working-age population actively engaged with generative AI tools in the second half of 2025.
This figure represents a steady 2.6 percentage point increase from 35.7% in the first half of the year, signaling consistent momentum and the increasing integration of AI into the nation’s professional and daily life.
Outpacing Global and Regional Peers
Qatar’s performance significantly surpasses the global AI adoption average of 16.3% and the Global South’s average of 14.1%.
Regionally, Qatar stands out as a clear leader, exceeding the AI adoption rates of neighboring countries, including Saudi Arabia (26.2%), Oman (24.2%), and Jordan (27.0%). This robust adoption rate highlights the nation’s competitive edge within the MENA tech ecosystem.
Strategic Vision Fuels AI Integration
The drivers behind Qatar’s impressive ranking align with patterns observed in other high-adoption economies. While the report does not detail country-specific initiatives, it points to the critical role of robust digital infrastructure and comprehensive AI skilling programs in fostering growth.
This progress is a direct result of the country’s National Vision 2030, which prioritizes technological innovation to diversify the economy beyond hydrocarbons. Strategic investments in educational programs, research hubs like the Qatar Science and Technology Park, and partnerships with global technology leaders have created a fertile ground for AI innovation and adoption across all sectors.
