The TASMU Accelerator, a key initiative by Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has released its 2024 Annual Achievements Report, highlighting its significant impact on the nation’s innovation ecosystem. The report reveals that startups participating in its first two cohorts have achieved a combined valuation of QAR 2.92 billion, cementing the program’s role in driving Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030.
A Global Launchpad with Strong Financials
The report underscores the accelerator’s success as a global launchpad for startups, having attracted over 1,185 applications from 78 countries. Beyond the impressive valuation milestone, the participating startups have demonstrated strong commercial traction, generating QAR 479 million in sales and securing QAR 228 million in funding. The startups have also gained international acclaim, winning 11 prestigious awards, nine of which were on the global stage.
Deep Integration into the Qatari Ecosystem
A core component of TASMU’s strategy is embedding startups within the local market. The program has facilitated pilot projects with over 60 organizations, creating QAR 137 million in new business opportunities. To further this integration, more than 80 high-level meetings have been held with leading Qatari institutions, including Qatar Airways, Ooredoo, and Sidra Medicine, alongside partnerships with 49 local entities.
Nurturing Talent and Expertise
The accelerator has placed a strong emphasis on developing human capital. It has delivered over 2,000 hours of mentorship and 270 hours of workshops led by global experts. The program has also extended its impact to the next generation of innovators by providing training opportunities for 370 university students, ensuring a sustainable pipeline of talent for the ecosystem.
