The Q Venture Capital Association (QVCA) has formalized a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at Web Summit Qatar 2026. This collaboration is designed to bridge government-led innovation initiatives with the private venture capital community, directly supporting the objectives of Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030.
Strengthening Ecosystem Intelligence and Investment Readiness
The MoU establishes a framework for enhanced collaboration to improve ecosystem intelligence and bolster startup growth within the country. By aligning the venture capital community with national digital strategies, the partnership seeks to ensure that Palestinian and regional startups choosing Qatar as a hub are better prepared for institutional investment.
During the summit, QVCA Founding Members, including Tarik Sultan (MENA Partner at Builders | VC) and Hussain Abdulla (Partner at Golden Gate Ventures and QVCA Co-Chair), outlined the association’s mission at the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) Pavilion. They emphasized QVCA’s commitment to championing the local VC community as Qatar scales its broader startup investment efforts to $3 billion.
Strategic Backing and Founding Partners
As an emerging industry body, QVCA brings together fund managers, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to build a scalable investment environment. The association is officially supported by several key national entities:
- Qatar Development Bank (QDB): A Platinum Sponsor of the association.
- Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
- Invest Qatar.
The association was founded by a coalition of influential venture firms, including Rasmal Ventures, A-typical Ventures, and Golden Gate Ventures. These founding members play a central role in working with policymakers to attract international capital and talent to the Qatari market.
