Reyadah Program Fuels 39% Growth In Ajman’s Home-Based Business Sector

4 Min Read

The Ajman Department of Economic Development (Ajman DED) has revealed that its “Reyadah” program has successfully supported the launch of 588 home-based businesses, marking a significant 39% growth in the sector. The initiative is designed to foster a flexible regulatory environment that empowers UAE citizens, particularly women, youth, and productive families, to transform their skills into sustainable economic ventures within a structured legal framework.

A Comprehensive Support System

Ahmed Khair Al Blooshi, Director of Business Development at Ajman DED, highlighted that the Reyadah program offers an integrated package of incentives and facilities to foster entrepreneurial success. Key benefits include free issuance of home-based business licenses for three years, complimentary participation in local marketing initiatives, exhibitions, and events, and access to specialized training workshops and feasibility study services. This comprehensive support is aimed at helping entrepreneurs launch their ventures confidently and enhance their chances of market success.

Driving Digital Transformation and Growth

The notable increase in home-based businesses reflects a growing culture of freelance work and a trend towards launching low-cost, scalable micro-enterprises. Al Blooshi emphasized that the entire licensing process has been digitized for efficiency and ease. Entrepreneurs can complete all steps—from selecting their business activity and submitting documents to paying fees—through the department’s smart platforms. A license can be issued within a single business day if all requirements are met, significantly reducing time and effort for business owners.

Economic Impact and Empowerment

The rise of licensed home-based businesses plays a crucial role in bolstering Ajman’s local economy. It provides a formal pathway for individuals to enter the market, contributing to the diversification of products and services and stimulating economic activity. For families, these ventures offer a way to diversify income streams without requiring significant capital investment, thereby enhancing financial stability and living standards. Al Blooshi noted the program’s particular success in boosting female participation in the economy by providing a flexible work environment compatible with family responsibilities.

Addressing Entrepreneurial Challenges

While the program has been successful, the department recognizes the challenges entrepreneurs face, including marketing, demand management, and compliance with health regulations for certain activities. To address these hurdles, Ajman DED provides targeted training programs, specialized consulting, and marketing platforms to showcase products and services. The department is also focused on raising awareness of regulatory guidelines to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of these ventures, many of which have the potential to evolve into SMEs that create further employment opportunities.
