Global technology leader HP has announced a landmark expansion into Saudi Arabia, launching its first local manufacturing facility in Riyadh and a new AI Research & Development Center of Excellence in Dhahran. This significant investment reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 agenda by advancing its digital transformation and industrial capabilities.
Localizing Manufacturing to Bolster Regional Supply Chains
The new Riyadh manufacturing facility represents a major milestone in HP’s regional strategy, aiming to localize production and enhance supply chain resilience. By producing hardware locally, HP can ensure faster product delivery, greater customization for regional needs, and increased reliability for customers across the Middle East. This move positions Saudi Arabia as a central hub within HP’s global operations, connecting its networks across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
“Our first local manufacturing site in Saudi Arabia positions HP closer to customers in one of the world’s most dynamic and fast-growing technology markets,” said Fadle Saad, Managing Director, HP MENA. “Producing locally improves delivery speed, customization, and reliability while building industrial capabilities that support economic diversification.” The initiative directly aligns with the Kingdom’s goals of creating high-value jobs and strengthening its industrial competitiveness.
Dhahran AI Hub to Drive Homegrown Innovation
Complementing its industrial investment, HP has opened an AI Center of Excellence in Dhahran to accelerate applied innovation in sectors crucial to the Saudi economy, including healthcare, logistics, energy, and smart cities. The center is focused on developing solutions with local relevance, with current projects including advanced Arabic language models, automation tools, and sophisticated decision-support systems.
“The center’s mission is to turn research into practical solutions that strengthen Saudi Arabia’s key sectors,” Saad explained. A core part of this mission involves talent development, with the center offering training and education programs to cultivate the next generation of Saudi tech professionals. Through strategic partnerships with local universities, startups, and government bodies, HP aims to foster a collaborative ecosystem where global expertise and local insights merge to create homegrown innovation.
A Direct Boost for Vision 2030
Both the manufacturing facility and the AI center are strategically aligned with the core pillars of Vision 2030, particularly its emphasis on digital transformation, economic diversification, and youth empowerment. By localizing both production and research, HP is actively contributing to Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a leading regional technology hub, fostering entrepreneurship and promoting sustainable innovation from within the Kingdom. “This is about more than technology — it’s about shared purpose,” Saad concluded. “HP’s expansion ensures that innovation and value creation happen where they are needed most — right here in Saudi Arabia.”
