Global AI-first cloud communications platform Infobip has announced the opening of a new data centre in Saudi Arabia, a significant move to support the Kingdom’s rapidly expanding digital economy and AI ambitions. This development reinforces Infobip’s commitment to the region, providing a crucial piece of infrastructure for local enterprises and government bodies.
The in-Kingdom data centre is designed to address the increasing demand for data sovereignty, low-latency performance, and stringent regulatory compliance, positioning Infobip as a key partner for organizations navigating the complexities of digital transformation.
Addressing Data Sovereignty and Compliance
Enterprises across Saudi Arabia, particularly within highly regulated sectors such as finance, government, and healthcare, are facing growing requirements for data residency. Simultaneously, the effectiveness of AI services can be hampered by latency and reliability issues when compute resources and sensitive data are hosted outside the country.
Infobip’s new facility directly tackles these challenges. It enables AI workloads to be deployed and executed entirely within Saudi Arabia, ensuring that all data is hosted and processed locally and never transferred beyond national borders. This offers a secure and efficient solution for entities requiring strict data control.
A Strategic Move for Vision 2030
The launch aligns with the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which prioritizes digital infrastructure and technological advancement. By providing sovereign, locally hosted infrastructure, Infobip is enabling a more resilient and innovative digital landscape.
Amsal Kapetanovic, Head of KSA at Infobip, commented on the strategic importance of the launch, “Saudi Arabia is rapidly advancing its digital economy and accelerating its Vision 2030 ambitions, making trusted, in-country digital infrastructure more important than ever. In times of regional uncertainty and heightened geopolitical tensions in the Gulf, having sovereign, locally hosted data centres isn’t just a regulatory convenience; it’s a strategic necessity.”
He added, “With our new data centre in the Kingdom, enterprises and government entities can run AI workloads locally, meet regulatory requirements with confidence, and maintain continuity even during crises, benefiting from secure, low-latency infrastructure that supports innovation at scale while enhancing digital sovereignty and operational resilience.”
