The Kingdom’s Heritage Commission has entered into a strategic partnership with the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA), signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate advanced data and artificial intelligence technologies into the national cultural heritage sector. This collaboration aims to revolutionize how Saudi Arabia’s rich history is documented, preserved, and presented to a global audience.
A Strategic Alliance Forged
The agreement was officially signed during the Digital Heritage Conference 2025, which took place in Riyadh on December 9 and 10. Held under the patronage of Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the conference served as a platform for experts, policymakers, and tech leaders to explore the expanding role of digital innovation in cultural preservation. This MoU marks a significant commitment to leveraging technology to safeguard the Kingdom’s invaluable historical assets.
Enhancing Heritage With Technology
The partnership outlines a clear framework for deploying cutting-edge digital tools across the heritage sector. A primary focus will be on creating a comprehensive digital inventory of heritage assets through advanced data analytics. This will not only improve the documentation and assessment of cultural sites but also support evidence-based decision-making for their preservation and management.
Furthermore, the collaboration will foster joint initiatives aimed at enriching digital heritage content. By deploying AI applications to interpret historical and cultural materials, the two entities aim to make Saudi heritage more accessible and engaging for the public. These efforts are expected to significantly enhance preservation practices while boosting the Kingdom’s cultural presence on the digital stage.
