Scaling GovTech at the Umrah and Ziyarah Forum

Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, revealed the milestone user numbers during the opening session of the third annual Umrah and Ziyarah Forum.

Hosted at the King Salman International Convention Center in Madinah, the three-day event drew significant local and international participation, highlighting the Kingdom’s ongoing investments in travel and tourism technology.

The massive user base of the application points to a broader trend within Saudi Arabia: leveraging mobile-first technology to manage complex logistical operations and population flows efficiently.

Digitizing the Hajj and Umrah Experience

Developed directly by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the application functions as a comprehensive travel and logistics hub for visitors.

By consolidating over 130 digital services into a single portal, the platform allows pilgrims to manage their entire journey directly from their smartphones.

Features include issuing official Umrah permits, booking specific visiting times to Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah, and accessing real-time administrative support.

The platform also incorporates crowd density monitoring. This specific feature addresses one of the most complex operational challenges of Hajj and Umrah, providing officials and users with actionable data to manage high-traffic areas and maintain visitor safety.
