South Korean AI chip company Rebellions has successfully closed a $250 million Series C funding round, achieving a valuation of $1.4 billion. The round saw participation from strategic investors including Arm, Samsung Ventures, and Pegatron VC, and follows a key investment from Saudi Arabia’s Wa’ed Ventures which has been pivotal to the company’s expansion into the Kingdom.
Strengthening Saudi AI Infrastructure
Rebellions’ growth trajectory in the MENA region has been significantly accelerated by its partnership with Wa’ed Ventures, the venture capital arm of Aramco. In July 2024, Wa’ed Ventures led a $15 million Series B extension, marking Rebellions’ first MENA-based investor. This strategic investment facilitated the establishment of a Saudi subsidiary in Riyadh and has already led to the deployment of the company’s first-generation chips, ATOM™ and ATOM™-Max, within Saudi Arabia, positioning the Kingdom alongside Japan and the US as an early adopter of its technology.
Accelerating Next-Generation Chip Production
The substantial new capital will be used to expedite the mass production of Rebellions’ second-generation chip, the REBEL-Quad. Introduced in August, the REBEL-Quad is described as the world’s first UCIe-Advanced AI accelerator, engineered for peta-scale inference with superior energy efficiency and scalability for next-generation data centers. This advancement is set to fuel the company’s expanded product roadmap for powerful and efficient AI infrastructure.
Global Expansion and Strategic Partnerships
The Series C round not only provides financial backing but also solidifies strategic alliances across the semiconductor ecosystem. The inclusion of Arm as a strategic partner will drive innovation for next-generation AI data center infrastructure, while support from Samsung Ventures and Pegatron VC enhances ties with key industry players. Alongside its deepening presence in Saudi Arabia, Rebellions plans to use the funds to expand its global footprint in the United States, Europe, and other key Asia-Pacific markets, supporting sovereign AI initiatives worldwide.
