Saudi e-commerce infrastructure firm Zid has announced its official entry into the Egyptian market through a strategic partnership and acquisition of Zammit, an Egypt-based e-commerce solutions provider. The move marks a significant milestone in Zid’s regional expansion strategy, positioning Egypt as a key hub for its future growth across Africa.
A Strategic Push into North Africa
This acquisition is a cornerstone of Zid’s broader vision to expand its footprint beyond the Gulf and into promising new markets. By entering Egypt, one of the largest and most dynamic economies in the MENA region, Zid aims to build a strong foundation for subsequent expansion into other African markets. The deal underscores a strong vote of confidence in the Egyptian entrepreneurial ecosystem and its potential for growth in the digital commerce space.
Operational Synergy and Integration
Under the terms of the agreement, Zammit will leverage Zid’s advanced technologies and technical capabilities to enhance its offerings and operations within the Egyptian market. In turn, Zammit’s team will spearhead Zid’s operational management in Egypt, overseeing local sales, merchant onboarding, and technical support. The Egyptian team will also be instrumental in executing Zid’s regional expansion plans moving forward.
The Zammit management team will oversee the complete integration process, including the migration of products and the expansion of the local team, ensuring a seamless transition while maintaining a unified corporate identity.

Mazen AlDarrab, CEO of Zid, commented on the move, stating that the partnership is a message of confidence in the Egyptian startup ecosystem and reflects the company’s commitment to building growth from within local markets.
The agreement is scheduled to formally come into effect on November 6, 2025.
