Saudi GeoAI Startup GBT Secures SAR 5 Million Pre-Seed for National Expansion

3 Min Read

Gulf Business Technologies (GBT), a Saudi company specializing in geospatial data solutions, has successfully closed a SAR 5 million Pre-Seed funding round. The investment was led by Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Zamil & Sons Investment Company and included participation from a group of angel investors.

The round, managed by SHORE Advisory Services, will fuel GBT’s expansion plans within Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing telecommunications and information technology sector.

Democratizing Geospatial Data with No-Code and GeoAI

GBT operates through a dual-subsidiary model to address different segments of the market. Its subsidiary, Penta-KSA, focuses on providing No-Code software suites that make complex spatial data accessible to non-specialists. This approach empowers decision-makers to break down internal data silos and maximize the return on investment from their existing technology systems.

The company’s deep-tech innovation arm, Penta-Labs, develops specialized solutions powered by GeoAI (Geospatial Artificial Intelligence) and Digital Twins, specifically targeting the needs of smart city initiatives and national giga-projects.
Yousef AlNafjan, Founder and President of GBT, commented on the company’s vision.

“We are proud of our partners’ trust. This round accelerates our growth trajectory. Our mission is transforming complex spatial data into smart, user-friendly solutions that support decision-makers in national digital transformation projects.”

Tapping Into Saudi Arabia’s Booming Geospatial Market

The investment comes at a pivotal time for Saudi Arabia’s geospatial analytics market, which is valued at approximately $1.5 billion in 2025 and is projected to exceed $2.5 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of over 10%.

This significant growth is propelled by Vision 2030 initiatives, widespread government digital transformation, and the development of giga-projects like NEOM, Qiddiya, and the Red Sea Development, all of which require advanced spatial analytics and digital twin capabilities.

Walid Nassar, Managing Director of SHORE Advisory Services, highlighted the market opportunity.
“Our bet on GBT stems from its robust business model and its ability to fill a real gap in the Deep Tech and spatial data market, a vital sector for the Kingdom’s digital economy.”

Focus on GeoAI Innovation and Team Expansion

GBT plans to allocate the new capital to strengthen its technological infrastructure and expand its team. A primary focus will be the launch of a new generation of GeoAI products through its Penta-Labs division, aiming to deliver proactive and intelligent solutions that meet the evolving demands of the Saudi market.
