3 Min Read

HUMAIN, Saudi Arabia’s national artificial intelligence company formed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), has launched HUMAIN Chat. This new conversational AI application is powered by the powerful new Arabic language model, ALLaM 34B, and is initially available to users within the Kingdom via web, iOS, and Android.

By the Numbers

The launch of ALLaM 34B sets a new benchmark for sovereign AI in the region:

  • ALLaM 34B: The name of the new, powerful Arabic Large Language Model.
  • 120+ AI Specialists: The number of experts, including 35 PhD holders, who developed the model.
  • 400 Million+: The number of Arabic speakers the platform is designed to serve, along with two billion Muslims worldwide.
  • #1 Ranking: ALLaM 34B has been ranked as the world’s most advanced Arabic LLM built in the Arab world by Cohere, using the MMLU benchmark.

A Benchmark for Arabic AI Chat

HUMAIN Chat sets a new standard for Arabic AI applications by offering a powerful set of features designed for local users. These include real-time web search for up-to-date information, Arabic speech input that recognizes multiple dialects, and seamless bilingual switching, allowing users to move between Arabic and English in the same conversation. The platform was built to serve the over 400 million Arabic speakers who have been historically underserved by mainstream generative AI applications.

Built and Trained for Cultural Authenticity

The ALLaM 34B model is not an update but was built from scratch by HUMAIN. It was trained on one of the largest proprietary Arabic datasets ever assembled. To ensure cultural authenticity and alignment with Islamic values and Middle Eastern nuances, the model received refinement input from over 600 domain experts and 250 evaluators.

Sovereign, Secure, and Compliant

A key feature of the new platform is its focus on data sovereignty and security. Both the ALLaM 34B model and the HUMAIN Chat app are hosted end-to-end on HUMAIN’s infrastructure within Saudi Arabia. This ensures full compliance with the Kingdom’s Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). While currently available only in Saudi Arabia, access will be rolled out soon to the surrounding region and later to the rest of the world.
