3 Min Read

In a landmark move for digital governance, the Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) in collaboration with the Sharjah Digital Department (SDD), has unveiled the world’s first AI-powered Trade Name Issuance Service. The pioneering initiative, showcased at GITEX Global 2025, solidifies the emirate’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation and digital transformation in the MENA region.

A New Era for Business Registration

This first-of-its-kind service leverages artificial intelligence to fundamentally change how entrepreneurs and businesses secure a trade name. The system analyzes a proposed business activity and instantly generates a list of creative, regulation-compliant name suggestions without any human intervention. Integrated into the DS Assistant on the Digital Sharjah platform, the service provides a seamless and intuitive interface, streamlining a critical step in the company formation process.

Slashing Time and Boosting Efficiency

The primary benefit of the AI-powered service is a dramatic increase in efficiency. Officials report that the new system can reduce the time required to issue a trade name by up to 98%, a significant improvement for entrepreneurs eager to launch their ventures. By providing customized name suggestions based on the user’s specific business sector and preferences, the service not only saves time but also minimizes the potential for human error through its advanced automation, improving the overall user experience.

Driving Sharjah’s Digital Transformation Agenda

HE Hamad Ali Abdallah Al Mahmoud, Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development Department, stated that the initiative reflects the emirate’s commitment to leveraging technology to serve businesses and residents. He emphasized that this service is part of a broader strategy to enhance Sharjah’s digital infrastructure, promote sustainable development, and increase the competitiveness of its business environment. By simplifying company formation, the emirate aims to attract a greater number of local and global investors, reinforcing its position as a regional leader in digital innovation.
