The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has revealed a period of robust economic expansion for the emirate in 2025, registering 8,385 new companies and signaling growing confidence from local and international investors. This significant influx boosts the Chamber’s total active membership to 76,110, marking an increase of over 14% compared to the previous year.

The impressive figures were announced during the SCCI’s first board meeting of 2026, highlighting Sharjah’s strengthening position as a competitive and innovative business hub.

A Year of Record Growth

The data underscores a dynamic business environment, with the Chamber processing 67,725 membership renewals and 2,288 free zone memberships in addition to the new registrations. This sustained activity points to a stable and thriving commercial landscape within the emirate.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, stated that Sharjah continues to reinforce its role as a premier investment destination that actively supports business growth and fosters innovation across multiple sectors.

Expanding Global Trade Footprint

Sharjah’s trade activity saw remarkable growth, with the SCCI issuing 90,983 certificates of origin. These certificates facilitated exports and re-exports totaling approximately AED 21 billion ($5.71 billion), reflecting the emirate’s expanding reach in international markets.

To further this global integration, the Chamber undertook significant international outreach. Director-General Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi noted that the SCCI led trade missions to more than seven countries throughout 2025, including its first official mission to Mauritius. Complementing these efforts, the Chamber signed eight memoranda of understanding with international partners to enhance cross-border cooperation and open new avenues for trade.

Fostering Sectoral Development and Innovation

Beyond trade, the SCCI focused on strengthening the local ecosystem through targeted initiatives. The Sharjah Training and Development Centre launched key programs like the Strategic Business Leadership Programme and signed nine international cooperation agreements with entities in the UK, France, and Spain.

Sectoral Business Groups also expanded their influence by establishing new units for the Legal and Hospitality industries. To stimulate industry-wide dialogue, the groups launched the “Business Impact” podcast. The Chamber also supported 30 local and international initiatives, while the Sharjah Excellence Award saw a 34% rise in entries, demonstrating a growing commitment to quality and distinction within the business community.
