Silal, an Abu Dhabi-based agri-food and technology company, has announced the expansion of its operations into Ras Al Khaimah. This strategic move, made in collaboration with the National Agricultural Centre, is designed to strengthen the UAE’s agricultural ecosystem and provide enhanced support for local farmers.
Strategic Expansion into Ras Al Khaimah
Marking a significant step in its nationwide growth strategy, Silal is set to improve the marketing and distribution of Emirati agricultural products while increasing farmers’ direct access to markets. The project’s first phase will launch in the Al Hamraniyah area of Ras Al Khaimah, with Silal commencing work with local farms from March 9.
The initiative aims to fortify agricultural production systems, helping farmers improve productivity and gain more efficient market access. This expansion is part of a broader effort to enhance the efficiency of agricultural supply chains across the UAE and contribute to the nation’s long-term food security goals.
An Integrated Support Framework for Farmers
Through the partnership, Silal and the National Agricultural Centre will establish a comprehensive support framework for farmers. This includes providing critical technical assistance, guidance on best agricultural practices, and access to essential inputs.
The collaboration will also oversee post-harvest handling and product marketing to improve the quality and competitiveness of local produce. As part of this integrated approach, the two entities will establish a dedicated crop collection centre to streamline the collection, distribution, and marketing of agricultural products from the region.
Fortifying National Food Security
This initiative aligns with national efforts to develop robust agricultural production systems and strengthen food supply chains, reinforcing the resilience of the country’s agricultural sector.
Dhafer Al Qasimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Silal, highlighted the importance of the partnership. “This collaboration represents an important step in Silal’s journey to expand its operations across the UAE and strengthen integration across the agricultural ecosystem,” he said. “Through our partnership with the National Agricultural Centre, we aim to empower local farmers by providing the technical and marketing support they need to enhance productivity and increase the presence of Emirati agricultural products in the market.”
Sultan Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the National Agricultural Centre, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the focus on empowering local producers. “By empowering local farmers through an integrated system that spans production, organisation, and marketing, we aim to improve the quality of agricultural products and enhance their competitiveness in the market, while supporting the sustainability of the agricultural sector and the UAE’s national food security goals,” he stated.
