Syria Launches Spark Homs Bootcamp to Foster Youth Entrepreneurship

The Spark Homs training bootcamp has officially launched in the city of Homs, bringing together dozens of young people from various academic backgrounds. The program is an integrated initiative aimed at helping participants transform their entrepreneurial ideas into viable startup projects.

A Collaborative Initiative for Innovation

The bootcamp is organized through a strong local partnership between the ICT Incubator in Homs, Homs University, and the National Union of Syrian Students, in collaboration with the international organization Action for Humanity and the “Buzur-Tech” initiative. The program will run until the eighth of August and is hosted at the ICT Incubator.

An Integrated Training Program

The program focuses on empowering participants with a range of practical and technical skills. The curriculum includes:

  • Developing product prototypes using 3D design tools.
  • Learning about controllers, motors, and sensors.
  • Gaining essential skills in project pitching, marketing, and identifying funding sources.
  • Receiving legal and advisory consultation to support their entrepreneurial journey.

Leadership on Fostering Local Talent

Eng. Hala Jahjah, Director of the Incubator, stated that the camp aims to spread the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among youth. Omar Hammam, Head of the Students’ Union branch in Homs, explained that the union seeks to open effective channels between students and government bodies to support those with distinguished ideas. For his part, trainer Sami Mando from Action for Humanity expressed his happiness in transferring his expertise to Syrian youth, confirming that the camp is the first step in a support series that will include legal and financial aspects.

Looking Ahead

The “Spark Homs” bootcamp is a practical step towards enabling Syrian youth to enter the world of entrepreneurship with advanced skills. It embodies a model of cooperation between academic and community institutions to support local innovation and is expected to result in new startups that will contribute to economic and social development.
