The TASMU Accelerator, an initiative of the Smart Qatar Program by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), has announced a series of strategic partnership agreements with Mowasalat (Karwa), DHL Express Qatar, and PwC Middle East. The agreements, signed during Web Summit Qatar 2024, are designed to create tangible opportunities for startups and accelerate digital transformation across key sectors in the country.

Pilot Projects with Mowasalat

In a significant move to foster innovation in smart mobility, TASMU Accelerator has selected five pilot projects from four startups in its third cohort to be implemented with Qatar’s national transport company, Mowasalat. The agreement was signed by Ms. Eman Al Kuwari, Director of Digital Innovation at MCIT, and Dr. Hamad Al Shaiban, Executive Director of IT and Communications at Mowasalat.

The pilot projects will test the practical feasibility of solutions aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. These include advanced solutions for improving fuel consumption, developing digital platforms for document management and contractor collaboration, and creating integrated systems for e-permits and facility access control. The initiatives will also explore the integration of machine learning into operational applications to support data-driven decision-making.

“These pilot projects embody one of TASMU Accelerator’s main roles in enabling startups to test their technical solutions in actual operational environments and in direct partnership with relevant entities,” said Ms. Eman Al Kuwari. “This collaboration reflects the Ministry’s commitment to linking digital innovation with the needs of operational sectors and turning innovative solutions into practical, scalable applications.”

Dr. Hamad Al Shaiban highlighted Mowasalat’s ongoing role in supporting innovation in smart mobility and sustainable transport. “We are enabling international startups to benefit from our experience and live operational ecosystem, allowing them to test and scale their technical solutions,” he stated.

Logistics and Supply Chain Expertise with DHL

TASMU Accelerator also formalized a partnership with DHL Express Qatar to support participating startups by providing access to the global logistics leader’s operational expertise. The agreement, signed by Ms. Al Kuwari and Mr. Henry Fares, General Manager of DHL Express Qatar, aims to connect startups’ tech solutions with real-world market needs in logistics and supply chain management.

Under the agreement, DHL will offer practical opportunities for startups to test and develop their solutions by sharing operational insights and sector-specific knowledge based on real-world applications. This collaboration is set to enhance the market readiness of startups, validate their applicability, and support their expansion opportunities.

Strategic Support and Funding from PwC

Further strengthening its ecosystem support, TASMU Accelerator partnered with PwC Middle East. The agreement, signed by Ms. Al Kuwari and company representative Mr. Yazan Al-Safi, includes a QAR 200,000 cash prize from PwC for the best startup in the upcoming fourth cohort of the Growth Accelerator program.
Beyond the financial award, PwC will provide strategic support, including access to a network of specialized mentors and industry experts. The firm will also offer guidance on business development strategies and market-entry readiness, reinforcing Qatar’s position as a regional hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship. This partnership exemplifies the effective collaboration between government initiatives and private sector leaders to advance Qatar’s Digital Agenda 2030.
