TIBU Africa Launches Diaspora Sport Impact To Empower Social Entrepreneurs in Morocco

3 Min Read

A new initiative aimed at mobilizing Moroccans living abroad and immigrants in Morocco around social and sports entrepreneurship has officially launched in Casablanca. The program, “Diaspora Sport Impact,” is the result of a collaboration between the Moroccan organization TIBU Africa and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Morocco.
The launch took place during the fifth edition of the Global Sports Entrepreneurship Week and seeks to support participants in creating and developing sustainable, inclusive, and high-impact companies.

A Strategic Partnership for Development

Diaspora Sport Impact is implemented within the framework of the German cooperation project “Potential of Migration and Socio-economic Reintegration” (POMIRE). The program is designed to leverage the skills and expertise of the diaspora and immigrant communities, using sport as a powerful tool for inclusion, employment, and local development.

The first cohort will focus on the Casablanca-Settat and Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima regions, providing direct support to over 30 beneficiaries while raising awareness among more than 200 participants through a series of workshops, sessions, and ecosystem meetings.

Fostering a New Generation of Entrepreneurs

Mohamed Amine Zariat, Founding President of TIBU Africa, described the program as a “factory of ideas, energy, and ambitions.”

“When we provide young people with the right tools, support, and confidence, they become solution-makers, project leaders, and sources of inspiration for their communities,” Zariat stated. He emphasized that Diaspora Sport Impact aims to directly involve Moroccans abroad and immigrants residing in Morocco in the kingdom’s socio-economic development.

Léo Julien Pagnac, POMIRE Manager at GIZ Morocco, highlighted the collaborative vision. “We believe in the power of sport to connect paths and territories. With Diaspora Sport Impact, the Moroccan-German partnership and the Moroccan diaspora sector are turning this belief into a tangible lever for development.”

Pagnac added, “By supporting TIBU Africa, Moroccans around the world and immigrants in Morocco become real actors in development. Their skills, their networks, and their international paths fuel development projects and create significant momentum.”

A Comprehensive Support System

The program offers a robust structure for aspiring entrepreneurs, including an entrepreneurship residency, competitions dedicated to women’s entrepreneurship, and innovation workshops focused on social impact.

Participants will also benefit from mentorship sessions, visits to sports infrastructures, and dedicated spaces for sharing experiences with seasoned entrepreneurs. Through this initiative, Casablanca and Tangier are positioned to become innovation labs for a new generation of bold and creative youth shaping the future of sport in Africa.
