A delegation of 30 Tunisian companies and startups descended on Marrakech for the latest edition of GITEX Africa, signaling a significant push by the North African nation to showcase its tech talent on a continental stage. The coordinated presence was organized by the Centre for Export Promotion (CEPEX) in partnership with Tunisia’s Ministry of Communication Technologies.

A Coordinated Push into the African Market
The official Tunisian national pavilion, spanning 70 square meters, housed 17 exhibitors. Among them were nine startups operating in high-growth sectors including artificial intelligence, robotics, fintech, cybersecurity, digital services, and enterprise digital transformation solutions.
Beyond the official pavilion, another 13 Tunisian startups participated independently, bringing the country’s total representation to 30 institutions. This diverse presence highlights a clear strategy to connect with investors, partners, and customers at Africa’s largest tech and startup event, which attracted over 1,450 exhibitors from 58 countries and more than 50,000 professional visitors.
Riding a Wave of Ecosystem Growth
This strong showing at GITEX Africa is backed by solid growth metrics from Tunisia’s domestic tech scene. The country is now home to more than 1,450 digital companies, with 1,165 officially holding the national “Startup” label. These companies generate a collective annual revenue of approximately $300 million.
The investment landscape is also showing positive momentum. So far in 2024, the Tunisian startup ecosystem has secured $24 million in funding. This has been accompanied by a 56% increase in the number of active venture capital investors, indicating growing confidence in the market’s potential.
