Securing the 87th position globally, this ranking reinforces Tunisia’s growing reputation as a key technology and innovation hub on the continent.

The comprehensive index evaluates and compares the digital ecosystems of 170 countries worldwide. The ranking is based on an analysis of over 50 distinct criteria, providing a holistic view of each nation’s digital readiness. Key indicators include the quality of digital legislation, the availability of digital skills, cybersecurity robustness, innovation capacity, access to finance for entrepreneurs, and the state of digital infrastructure.
Regional Rankings and Performance
The 2025 index, which utilizes data from 2022 for its analysis, places South Africa at the top of the continent, ranking 59th globally. Morocco claimed the third spot in Africa and 83rd worldwide, placing it just ahead of Tunisia. Other regional players include Algeria, which ranked 10th in Africa (111th globally), and Senegal, at 11th in Africa (118th globally).
On a broader scale, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region demonstrated significant progress, improving its overall score by 8.5 points to reach 36.4. Sub-Saharan Africa also showed notable advancement, with its score increasing from 9.7 to 13.8 points.
