UAE Fosters Inclusive Entrepreneurship for People of Determination

5 Min Read

A growing movement across the UAE is focused on empowering People of Determination by cultivating their entrepreneurial skills, enabling them to transform innovative ideas into sustainable ventures. Multiple government and social institutions are launching targeted initiatives to provide an integrated support structure, ensuring this vital segment of the community can achieve economic independence and contribute to the nation’s social and economic fabric.

Building a Supportive Framework

Entrepreneurs of Determination have highlighted that success hinges on a comprehensive ecosystem. This includes access to specialized education, streamlined pathways to funding, and dedicated digital marketing platforms to promote their projects. The goal is to facilitate a paradigm shift from a model of care to one of genuine empowerment and self-reliance.

Governmental bodies are actively answering this call. The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai, Al Nahda Women’s Association, and Dubai Police are among the key organizations rolling out specialized programs. These initiatives are designed not only to equip participants with business acumen but also to foster societal inclusion in line with the UAE’s vision for a fully empowered community.

Specialized Programs for Skill Development

Al Nahda Women’s Association has launched “Riyada B’hemma” (Leadership with Determination), a program featuring interactive workshops on topics such as “The Road to Entrepreneurship,” “Build Your E-commerce Store,” and “Marketing with Artificial Intelligence.” Khawla Al Matrooshi, Director of the Future Generations Department, stated that the program aims to enhance entrepreneurial skills and promote innovative projects by providing training in modern marketing and management techniques.

Similarly, the CDA, in collaboration with the Sheikha Maitha bint Rashid Al Maktoum Center for People of Determination, organizes vocational workshops. Dr. Sheikha Al Mansouri, Head of the Social Integration Department at CDA, explained that these sessions offer practical training in diverse crafts. Workshops for women focus on the art of decoupage for decorating bags, while sessions for men concentrate on tailoring skills, preparing them for future production projects.

From Training to Real-World Application

The Rashid Centre for People of Determination has taken a practical step towards market integration by opening “Rashid Lounge,” an entrepreneurial project managed by its members. Mariam Othman, the Centre’s Director General, explained that the lounge serves as a real-world environment where students can showcase and sell culinary products from their baking workshops.

The initiative provides invaluable hands-on experience in a business setting, preparing students for the job market. “The goal extends beyond offering a unique hospitality experience; it’s about building the students’ self-confidence and developing their social and professional skills, enabling them to become active and productive members of society,” Othman noted.

Voices of Empowerment

The impact of these initiatives is best expressed by the entrepreneurs themselves. “Supporting and empowering us in entrepreneurship marks a real turning point in our professional lives,” said Mariam Al Blooshi. “When the right tools and institutional support are available, we become capable of competing and innovating, proving that disability is not a barrier to ambition and achievement.”

Mohammed Al Ghafli emphasized the boost in self-confidence and economic independence. “Entrepreneurship has given us the chance to build our own futures and has helped change society’s perception of our true capabilities,” he stated.

Rashid Al Marzouqi added that investing in their abilities benefits the entire nation. “When People of Determination are empowered in entrepreneurship, we don’t just achieve individual success; we add real value to the sustainable development journey and strengthen the culture of innovation.”
