As Dubai continues to solidify its position as a global hub for innovation and tourism, a new initiative has been launched to support the next generation of entrepreneurs. Pratham Mittal, a prominent entrepreneur from ‘Shark Tank India’ and founder of Tetr College and Masters’ Union, has announced the Tetr Founders Challenge, a new program designed to back student-led startups with over $100,000 in equity-free grants.
Equity-Free Capital for Early-Stage Founders
The initiative aims to address a critical gap in the ecosystem: the difficulty for student founders to access early, non-dilutive funding. The Tetr Innovation Fund will provide individual grants of up to $7,500 per startup, offering young entrepreneurs their first significant source of capital to transition their ideas from an academic setting to commercially viable ventures.
This financial support is designed to empower founders to build and test their concepts without immediately surrendering equity, a common hurdle for early-stage ventures.
Bridging the Gap from Academia to Market
The challenge specifically targets third and fourth-year university students, as well as recent graduates up to four years post-graduation. The program is open to founders from the Middle East, including the UAE, alongside India and Southeast Asia. It welcomes applications from both idea-stage ventures and companies that have already gained initial traction or generated early revenue.
The evaluation process is structured to mirror real-world investor assessments, drawing on Pratham Mittal’s experience in reviewing hundreds of early-stage startups. The criteria will focus on the clarity of the market opportunity, the feasibility of the business plan, and the conviction of the founding team.
Beyond Funding A Global Mentorship Network
In addition to the financial grants, selected founders will gain invaluable access to Tetr’s global ecosystem of mentors, operators, and investors. This network includes founders and experts affiliated with prestigious international institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, and SoftBank, who will provide practical guidance on product development, market validation, and go-to-market strategies.
Furthermore, founders on the shortlist will be considered for scholarships to Tetr’s Master in Management & Technology (MiM-Tech) program, an international course that integrates academic study with building a startup, offering students the chance to live and learn in global markets like Dubai, China, and Europe.
